I was hesitant to wear it running, but it actually stays in place really well and I never mind it at all.Stefhttp://living-hi.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1698600978815527980.post-11302681382116008022012-06-14T19:19:08.343-07:002012-06-14T19:19:08.343-07:00I love running with my Nathan HPL backback. Howeve...I love running with my Nathan HPL backback. However, after recently volunteering at a 100 miler aid station, all the water backpack bladders were difficult to deal with (all of the brands) and the hand helds were the easiest to fill, followed by the water belt bottles. It made me want to try to run with handhelds more, maybe thinking working on upper body strength a bit might make it more annoying for me to use them.

I have an 8 hr timed race on Saturday and will attempt to use this method of using a handheld for the race.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02212001894912473388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1698600978815527980.post-37146005437406587022012-06-14T18:34:32.199-07:002012-06-14T18:34:32.199-07:00I did a few Dirt Devil trail races this spring. The Dirt Devil races I ran in were very well organized, so don't let the hiccups on this one turn you off of their other races! It's hard to get an exact measurement for those races and it's been my experience that no one really gives a sh*t. Which is a hard adjustment when you're coming from road racing. I've ran one 50k that was right at 31 miles and another that was like 32.6. You just have to know that you're going to be running somewhere in the vicinity of 50k.

Also, I think with a race with as much elevation change as this one.. garmins aren't going to be as accurate.

I used to HATE running with a handheld. But, I have to say... for longer races, it's actually kind of a nice distraction. To be fiddling with it, switching hands, etc. Although, I'm MUCH slower than you, soo... maybe you don't need that. Anyway, after a bunch of trail races with handheld, I've grown accustomed to it.

Congrats on the race!Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00574939084120691481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1698600978815527980.post-89487006242832857312012-06-13T21:51:01.185-07:002012-06-13T21:51:01.185-07:00I have no advice on the pack, but I would definite...I have no advice on the pack, but I would definitely buy one if I were planning a trail ultra. I wished I had one at my little half trail race. The water stations were very scarce, especially for a hot day.Yo Momma Runshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02303930412601863052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1698600978815527980.post-17029434205435775062012-06-13T21:41:45.572-07:002012-06-13T21:41:45.572-07:00You should ask Becka - she's got some sort of ...You should ask Becka - she's got some sort of hydration vest thing that she adores.

I was contemplating volunteering at Harding Hustle.
